Giovanni Andreoni was awarded a Laurea di Dottore in Scienze Politiche from the University of Pisa. In 1962-1963 he first taught Italian and French at Christ Church Grammar School, Claremont, Tasmania. In 1964, he began teaching at the University of Western Australia and from 1968-1973 he was Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in charge of Italian at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. After some years, he became Head of the Division of Italian at the University of New England. In 1990 Andreoni was awarded an Ethnic Affairs Fellowship by the New South Wales State Library.
Since his retirement in 1996 Andreoni has acted as a visiting lecturer at the University of Wollongong and at the universities of Venice and Pisa. He has spent long periods of time in central Italy undertaking research on Etruscan culture and joined 'Odyssey' in order to share with others his love for and interest in Italy, its people and culture.
Andreoni's publications include political articles, literary essays, novels, collections of short stories and poetry. The Abo Bianco, poems on the Australian outback, were published in 1971.
