BiographyHistory

Tierney was a founding member of the Bread and Cheese Club, Melbourne, held offices in the Australian Poetry Lovers' Society and was a member of the Henry Lawson Memorial Society. He is also the author of the poetry broadsheets Greetings to Me Cobbers (1941) and Nerangi Mundowie : lines written by T.V. Tierney on viewing etching by Victor Cobb (1942).

According to his biography in Fellows All : Chronicles of the Bread and Cheese Club (1934), Tierney was a "municipal employee (outdoor staff)". His "likes" ran to "good horses, good pictures (not cinema), good fellowship and good beer, while his dislikes embraced modern art, modern verse, snobbery and affectation" (p.248).
