Heather Sladdin was born in Adelaide, SA. She was Head Prefect at Plympton High School and attended Reading Memorial High School in Massachusetts for one year on an American Field Service Scholarship from 1971 to 1972. She returned to study a Marketing Certificate and finish a cadetship in Retail Management with John Martin’s Department Store. She returned to the USA from 1974 to 1980 and completed a BA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
In 1996 she completed a Graduate Diploma in Women’s Studies at Adelaide University and in 2015 she completed a PhD in Creative Writing from Adelaide University. She studied H.D.’s Helen of Troy and used Gurdjieff’s enneagram to structure her first verse novel, Patterns of Being. Heather has worked in hospitality, retail, marketing, advertising, sales, editing, publishing, recruitment and tertiary education. From 1996 until 2012, she taught in The School of Communication at UniSA and SAIBT.
Heather moved to Murray Bridge, SA, in 2009 where she continues to write poetry and prose, edit manuscripts and mentor writers.
