Margaret Lock has been a member of Melbourne Poets, The Aadvarkers Poetry Group, The Victorian Fellowship of Australian Writers and The Victorian Writers' Centre.
In 1993 Lock graduated from Box Hill TAFE in the Associate Diploma of Arts (Professional Writing and Editing).
During 1995 she researched and wrote a book titled, Singled Out! Life after Separation, Divorce and Widowhood.
