BiographyHistory

Emily Sutherland has three published novels, a number of short stories, poetry and two travel books. Having taught Drama and English in secondary schools in Adelaide during the 1970s she worked as a publisher and arts administrator in the 1980s. In 1993 she compiled a book of refugee stories, collected while working as a volunteer in the Philippines. These stories were published in Women of the Camp. After seven years practising as a Migration Consultant, Sutherland returned to study completing a Master of Creative Arts at Flinders University in 2004 and commencing a Ph.D. in 2005 at the same institution. Sutherland has also taught in the English Department at Flinders University.
