BiographyHistory

Junice Direen was born in Auckland, New Zealand. She migrated to Adelaide, South Australia in 1984 and later became an Australian citizen.

Direen began writing in 1989. She has been a long-term member of Friendly Street Poets and, in 1999, was Deputy Chair of the Board of the SA Writers' Centre. She was also a founding member of the Fleurieu Writers.

Direen has taught creative writing for Onkaparinga TAFE and has been the City of Onkaparinga Council poet for a Crime, Community, Environment, Art and Design project.
