Trevor Steele wrote widely in Esperanto. He also edited New Leaves, a magazine of general commentary on national and international social and political issues in 1986-87, with a particular emphasis on peace related issues. Steele also wrote an Esperanto version of the screenplay for the film, Storm Boy.
