Born in Goulburn in regional New South Wales, Geoffrey Bingham grew up in Wahroonga, a suburb of Sydney. He had begun theological studies at Moore College when World War II broke out and, despite his pacifist inclinations, he enlisted. Bingham was awarded the Military Medal for his courage and leadership during the fall of Singapore. Following that event, he spent the remainder of the war in Changi as a prisoner of war.
Bingham was repatriated to Australia in 1946 where he married and resumed his studies at Moore College. After working at Sydney's Garrison Church, he joined the Church Missionary Society and served in Pakistan from 1956 to 1967. Again returning to Australia, Bingham beame the principal of the Adelaide Bible Institute and, later, took up work as an itinerant preacher. He also established New Creation Publications and New Creation Teaching Ministries.
Bingham published over 200 books ranging from novels and poetry to Bible commentaries and works of theology.
