Orb Speculative Fiction Magazine showcases short Australian speculative fiction, science fiction, fantasy, magical realism, and non-realist fiction, and includes Australian artwork, reviews, commentary, and interviews. The first issue (No 0) was launched by Sara Endacott at Aussiecon Three in 1999. In 2002, the second issue of Orb was short-listed in the Best Collected Work category at the annual Ditmar Awards. The magazine was again nominated in 2005 (No 6) and 2008 (No 7).

Two stories published in Orb have won awards for their authors. The first was 'The Woman of Endor' by Sue Isle, which won the 2001 Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Short Story. The second winner was Cat Sparks, whose story 'A Lady of Adestan' picked up the 2008 Ditmar Award for Best Novella. Ten other short stories featured in Orb were also finalists at the Aurealis and Ditmar Awards up until 2008.
