BiographyHistory

Eugene Kamenka was born of Jewish background and published a biography exploring the theme of being a German-Jewish refugee in Australia. As an editor he was involved with works that discussed law, justice, society, intellectuals, revolution, human rights, capitalism, marxism and bureaucracy. He became a Research F ellow in the Department of Philosophy at The Australian National University (ANU) in the late 1950s. He was appointed Professorial Fellow and Head of the History of Ideas Unit in 1969.
