BiographyHistory

Sonia Mycak was born in Australia to Ukrainian parents. She received a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree from the University of New South Wales where she completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree and worked as an associate lecturer in the School of English. She has been a member of the Association of Ukrainian Studies in Australia (USAA) and various professional organisations. In 1991, she won third prize in the national Ukrainian Short Story Competition sponsored by the Vasyl Symonenklo Literary and Artistic Club. In 2001, she was Australian Research Fellow of the Australian Research Council in the Department of English at the University of Sydney.
