Joan Lane has been involved with various community writing groups and publications. During the 1990s, Lane was editor of the Australian Writers' Journal, a bi-annual publication that featured short stories, poems and plays. She has lived in the Mandurah area of Western Australia and in Bundaberg, Queensland.
