BiographyHistory

Koos Schuur migrated to Australia from The Netherlands in 1956 and settled in the Sydney suburb of Harbord. Before migrating, Schuur had published four volumes of poetry (two of which were 'Resistance' poems).

After his first year in Australia, Schuur published, in The Netherlands, The Kookaburra Laughs, 'a prose book giving his impressions of life' in his adopted country. He also published Fata Morgana for Dutchmen, 'a series of poems on migrants' commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Education.
