BiographyHistory

Michael Tuffley was educated at Crown Woods Comprehensive School in Averyhill, London. He left school at 15 and worked as a pageboy at the Savoy Hotel, where he met Sir Charles Chaplin and Sir Noel Coward. Tuffley joined the army, serving in B.A.O.R., Malaysia, South Arabia and East Africa. He also toured Ireland, visiting Dublin, Belfast, Cork and most Irish counties and consequently has an affectionate regard for Ireland. In Australia Tuffley became a professional boxer and title contender. He married Anne White and settled in south-east Queensland.
