John Fairfax was a journalist, author and a company director of John Fairfax & Sons. Some of his works were published posthumously. He was also the author of The Story of John Fairfax: Commemorating the Centenary of the Fairfax Proprietary of the Sydney Morning Herald, 1841-1941.
