Komninos Zervos was born in Australia of Greek parentage. He completed high school in Kew and studied microbiology at Monash University gaining a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in 1973. From that time he has worked in several position which include as a research microbiologist, a director of the first bilingual-bicultural childcare centre in Victoria, a travel agent, a coffee shop owner and a youth worker with the Australian Greek Welfare Society. In 1975 he commenced an involvement with the social welfare of Greek youth in Melbourne. He has composed poetry mainly for performance and has given numerous public recitals all over Australia from 1983. He expresses himself in English while experimenting with a fusion of Greek and English he has called 'Greeklish'.
