BiographyHistory

Rowley, formerly director of Visual Arts at the University of Wollongong, has written on bush mythology, gender and national culture in 1890s painting and literature, and on craft theory, museum practice and feminism in the visual arts. Rowley has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) at the University of Technology in Sydney since 2004. Prior to her appointment she served on the Humanities discipline panel (from 1999 to 2000) and then was Executive Director for Humanities and Creative Arts at the Australian Research Council (ARC) from February 2001 to May 2004.
