BiographyHistory

Walter Johnstone arrived with his parents on the family block they had selected near Poowong, Victoria three or four years after the first white settlers in the area. Johnstone recalled his memories of the family's arrival in a prose piece Our First Selection and in a poem Retrospect in which he compared the forest he remembered to the cleared land after settlement.
