BiographyHistory

Greg McCart studied Ancient Greek Language and English Literature at the University of Queensland. He completed his Master of Arts with a thesis on Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida in 1975. In 1976 he joined the staff of what is now Charles Sturt University, and taught in the field of theatre studies. In 1987 he took up the position of Head of the Theatre Programme at what is now the University of Southern Queensland. There he served in a number of capacities such as Director of the Performance Centre, Associate Dean of Arts (Resources), and Deputy Chair and Chair of the Academic Board.

In 1990 he was awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy for his translation and direction of, and staging commentary on, Sophocles' Oedipus at Colonus. His translation of Euripides' Medea was published in 1998 in Sydney Theatre Company : Word for Word, edited by John Senzcuk. In 2001 he became an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Queensland.
