BiographyHistory

Carrie Louise Sonneborn was born in Massachusetts and grew up in New Jersey. She first came to Australia in 1983 and has lived in Wollongong, Canberra and Perth. Sonneborn graduated from Wollongong University and, in 2001, she received a bursary from the Australian Federation of University Women (Western Australia) to take up an internship at the National Renewable Energy Research Laboratory in the United States. In 2005 she was awarded a PhD in Physics and Energy Studies from Murdoch University, Western Australia. Sonneborn has worked in the area of sustainable energy policy development and has been a Research Fellow at the Institute for Science & Technology Policy at Murdoch University.

Sonneborn has published technical articles about renewable energy. She wrote her first poem at the age of nine and has enjoyed reading her poetry in performance settings and on radio.
