BiographyHistory

A reviewer and cultural commentator since 1979, Adrian Martin has been widely published in newspapers and film journals including Cinema Papers, the Age, the Australian and Business Review Weekly. He has also been a film critic for ABC Radio National's The Week in Film. Martin has taught film, media and cultural studies at Deakin and Melbourne Universities and has had two books published.

Phantasms (1994) is a collection of his essays on film and television and his gangster epic Once Upon a Time in America (1998) is about film director Sergio Leone. Martin also edited Film : Matters of Style (1992). In 1993, Martin won the Australian Film Institute's Byron Kennedy Award in recognition of his contribution to the film industry. He was awarded the Pascall Prize for critical writing in 1997 .
