BiographyHistory

Gerhard Fischer has been Associate Professor in German Studies at the University of New South Wales. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the State University of New York (Binghamton), and has had teaching appointments in the USA, Germany and Algeria (Université d'Alger), and in Australia since 1976. His field of research and publications is in modern German literature, especially drama and theatre, migration history and World War I (Enemy Aliens), and multiculturalism (Adventures of Identity; Race, Colour and Identity in Australia and New Zealand).
