BiographyHistory

Adrienne Howley was Dorothea Mackellar's nurse-companion for twelve years until the poet's death in1968. A writer and traveller herself, Howley spent five years sailing the world as mate, cook and bilge-cleaner. She has worked in Rabaul and South Africa and has studied Mahayana Buddhism in Italy, Nepal, India, England and France.
