Kay Brownbill had a number of radio plays performed by the ABC and in five other countries. She also worked for radio 5DN, and as a Public Relations Officer for radio stations in Australia and in London. She was the Federal Member for Kingston in the Liberal Government of 1966-1969, at a time when it was difficult for women to get elected into the House of Representatives.
In 1969, while in Hong Kong, she developed an infection in her voicebox, as a result of which she lost her voice, and for many years she was crippled with arthritis. She was awarded the OBE for services to the community. As well as the novel listed here, Kay Brownbill wrote a set of six pieces about SA, 'It Started Here', which is held in the Mortlock Library of South Australiana.
Known to her family as Kitty, she lived in Harris St, Glenelg East and later in Glenelg South.
