BiographyHistory

Gaetano Rando moved to New Zealand in 1952 and then returned to Australia in 1963. He gained tertiary qualifications at the universities of Sydney and Rome, and has taught at the University of Western Australia, Griffith and Wollongong universities, the University of Auckland in New Zealand and universities in Perugia, Macerata and Florence in Italy. A world authority on Italian-Australian Literature, he has translated a number of literary and non-literary works of Italian/Australian interest. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of the Star of Solidarity by the Italian government.
