BiographyHistory

'Sue Kossew is Professor of English and Literary Studies at Monash University, Melbourne, and has held this position since 2009. Prior to this, she was Associate Professor of English at The University of New South Wales. She has been a Head of School both at Monash and at UNSW. She has published widely on postcolonial, South African and Australian literatures and has an ARC Discovery Grant for her joint project, “Rethinking the Victim: Gendered Violence in Australian Women’s Writing”. Her research interests include ongoing work on J.M. Coetzee, Australian and South African women writers including Nadine Gordimer, Antjie Krog and Zoë Wicomb, and issues of apology and reconciliation. She has been Distinguished Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at the University of Copenhagen (2009) and held the R. Marika Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at Cologne University (2013). She is on the editorial boards of Journal of Commonwealth Literature and The Literary Encyclopedia.' (Source: The Australian Academy of the Humanities website)
