BiographyHistory

Bert Almon is a writer and a Professor of English at the University of Alberta, Canada, where he has taught modern literature, creative writing and autobiography. He has written some critical pieces on Les Murray, and some of his poems have been published in Quadrant.

Professor Almon has won the Writers' Guild of Alberta Award for poetry for Earth Prime (1998) and he has been a Hawthornden Fellow in Poetry. His critical works include a study of the Southern novelist, William Humphrey and a book on autobiographies, This Stubborn Self (2002).
