BiographyHistory

Elisabeth George was educated at The Wilderness School, Adelaide. Under the pseudonym 'Elizabeth Leigh' she wrote for The Register and later for The Advertiser (1932-34). She was leader writer for The Advertiser in the days of Sir William Sowden, and for a time was editor of the women's page of The Chronicle.

She married the widowed art critic, Esmond Robert George, and his illustrations head her newspaper features. They lived at 'Dinton', 19 Fife Avenue, Torrens Park. In addition to her other published work, Elisabeth wrote a history of The Wilderness Book (1946).
