BiographyHistory

Christine King attended Monash University. She performed her work at cafes, pubs and peace festivals. In addition to her poetry, she also wrote songs. In her selected work The Day My Carpet Caught Fire: And Other Poems, published in 2000, she writes 'My work comes from 20 years of life / firstly in Melbourne and the street poetry scene, / then in Central Victoria, / firstly as a married Mum with a baby, / and later as a single Mum with a growing boy.'
