BiographyHistory

Alan Alexander is a poet and former teacher who left Belfast for Western Australia in 1965, at the age of 24. The Oxford Companion to Australian Literature describes his work as "dramatically restrained and controlled verse."

His poetry explores many aspects of his adoptive home, including the local history and characters of the inner city, the natural features and dramatic beauty of the landscapes, and the increasingly multicultural atmosphere of Perth.
