Meg Mooney 'was born in Adelaide...She has lived also in Sydney, Canberra, London and Cambridge. She had a Catholic schooling, went to university in the 70s, has worked as a geologist, teacher, cook, waitress and community administrator, among other things. Friendships, feminism, her neighbourhood and writing are major focuses of her life. She wrote this story for a women's group in Canberra, and is now [1987] making a home on an Aboriginal community in Central Australia' (The Man Who Played Spoons, p. 259)
