John Reid has spent his working life in the broadcasting industry. He worked in provincial radio and televsion stations in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia and in New Zealand. Reid joined the ABC in 1980 and has worked in both radio and television for that organisation. He has also written several local history books, including Ballarat, Golden City (1989).
