BiographyHistory

Australian singer-songwriter (most notably for The Celibate Rifles) and journalist, who also published autobiographical works and sports-themed children's non-fiction.

Damien Lovelock was born in the United Kingdom where his family had moved to pursue work opportunities for his mother. Following the breakup of his parents' marriage, Lovelock and his mother returned to Sydney.

Lovelock attended school at Waverley College and Vaucluse Boys' High School, and completed a media studies degree at the New South Wales Institute of Technology (now UTS).

He later became the lead singer with the band Celibate Rifles.

He has also worked in radio and newspaper journalism. In addition to the works recorded on AustLit, Lovelock has written What's for Dinner Dad? : More Than 80 Easy, Fun Recipes for Desperate Dads (1995).

He died of cancer in 2019.
