Jorgensen is a Brisbane author whose first crime novel, The Teddy Bear Kill, won the 4BC/Dymocks Writer's Award in 1995. In 1996, her second crime fiction, Tom Tiddler's Ground, was a runner-up to the HarperCollins Fiction Prize administered by The National Book Council.
In 2004 she was the sole runner-up to the Davitt Prize for her third crime novel, A Quality of Light, in the same year winning the Fastbooks Award for best Young Adult Fiction. This was for her novel Morag Bane. For her next two publications, Jorgensen turned to nonfiction. She co-wrote The 'Brook, which was published in 2004 by Blake Publications and republished by New Holland Publishers in 2006 as Brutal: Surviving Westbrook Boys Home. Jorgensen has reviewed books for 4BC and The Courier-Mail in Brisbane and has worked as a teacher, journalist, proofreader and editor. (Source: http://blakepublications.com/)
