Notes

  • This author is not to be confused with:

    (1) George Forbes from Geelong, Vic., who 'arranged for acting purposes' The Merrie Men of Sherwood Forest: A Pastoral Opera (1883). Miller and McCartney (but not Miller) incorrectly attributes this work to the George Forbes (of Sydney) above.

    (2) George Forbes (1849-1936) , Professor of Natural Philosophy at the Andersonian University, Glasgow, who is credited by some sources with Adventures in Southern Seas (q.v.). However, this work first appeared in the Sydney Daily Telegraph in 1916 (under the title The Dawn of White Australia) and the author was a journalist with that paper.
