Sandy Campbell joined the publishing industry in the 1980s at Methuen. From 1987 to 1999 she was Scholastic's first publicity manager. In 1999 Sandy Campbell began freelancing in children's publicity, reviewing and manuscript appraisal as well as working as the publicist for the Children's Book Council of Australia (NSW Branch).
Sandy Campbell worked on several committees including the Children's Book Council of Australia (National and NSW Branches), the Sydney Book Publishing Group and the APA's Book Fair Publicity Committee. She established programs including the Scholastic 'book bunker' at the Children's Hospital in Westmead and created events, the most memorable being a book club party for 1,000 children on the tarmac at Alice Springs airport.
