BiographyHistory

Writer, singer-songwriter, and educator.

Natalie D-Napoleon (Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon) is a writer, educator and singer-songwriter who was raised on a farm on the outskirts of Fremantle, Western Australia by her Croatian-immigrant parents. She holds an MA in Writing from Swinburne University and works as a Writing Center Coordinator at a California City College. Her creative non-fiction and poetry have appeared in Meanjin, Australian Poetry Journal, Entropy, Westerly, and Writer’s Digest, including a publication in Larry Smith’s The Best Advice in Six Words, alongside Elizabeth Gilbert and Madeleine Albright. She is a two-time finalist for the Penelope Niven Creative Nonfiction Award at the 2018 and 2017 International Literary Awards. Her poem 'First Blood: A Sestina' won the prestigious 2018 Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize through the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
