Milsom completed her cadetship at the Newcastle Herald in 1996, and ended there as senior feature writer: she subsequently began work with Fairfax Media, as section editor at the Sunb-Herald and features writer and editor at Sunday Life magazine, as well as writing for Vogue Australia, Medical Observer, and Qantas' in-flight magazine, Spirit.
She has been Journalist of the Year (Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance Northern NSW Media Awards) and a finalist in the United Nations Association of Australia’s Peace Media Awards and the Kennedy Awards for Excellence in NSW Journalism.
