BiographyHistory

A graduate of Sydney and Cambridge universities, Ruth Little has worked as a school teacher and an academic. She has an established background in theatre production, having been Literary Manager of Griffin Theatre Company in Australia; while in the UK she has been involved with the Soho Theatre Company and the touring company, Out of Joint.

London-based, Little has been Senior Reader at the Royal Court Theatre and more recently held the position of Artistic Associate at the Young Vic. Drawing on her experience at the latter of these theatres, Little has published The Young Vic Book : Theatre Work and Play (2004); a behind-the-scenes introduction which is intended for a young adult readership.

She has also written poetry, been a scriptwriter for television and film and, with Germaine Greer (q.v.), co-edited The Collected Works of Katherine Philips, the Matchless Orinda Vol. III (1993).

In 1995, Little won the El Kumanand Tropical Australia short story competition with her short fiction work, 'Fig'.

Little has lived in Sydney and London.
