BiographyHistory

Olive Teresa Willey (nee Bedwell) was the second child of seven children. Her father served in the Boer War (1899-1902) and after that worked on farms around Tammin in Western Australia. In 1904 the family moved to the town of Narrogin and established a farm. Olive Willey's husband owned a farm at Karlgarin. This helps in reading Willey's poetry because it shows that there are two farms that the poems can be invoking: her husband's at Karlgarin ('Journey's End') and her father's at Narrogin (Glendale').
