Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Jameson has studied at Monash University and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She completed a journalism cadetship in 1985 and has since worked for magazines and newspapers and in television. She was based in Los Angeles, USA from 1996-1998 while working as foreign correspondent for News Limited.
