BiographyHistory

Vicki Davey grew up a State ward under the Community Welfare system. The story of how she became a paraplegic is told in Survival in Our Own Land (ed Christobel Mattingley & Ken Hampton, 1988) p 272. Vicki worked for Friends of the Disabled, as secretary for personal care workers, a pilot scheme for severely disabled people to help them live in the community. In 1980 she was awarded the SA Handicapped Worker of the Year. Vicki Davey belongs to the Gugada people.
