Before completing a Professional Writing and Editing Course at a Melbourne College of Advanced Education, Phil McClusky had worked in a Scottish scrapyard, been a brickie's labourer in London, and a house-painter in Victoria. In 1997, McClusky and his wife were living in Melbourne.
