BiographyHistory

James Swords arrived at Hobson's Bay from Ireland in 1840. He founded the Portland Guardian and Normanby General Advertiser with Thomas Wilkinson in 1842 and, after leaving Portland, 'was associated with newspapers in Beechworth, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, and Anally in Dandenong'.
