BiographyHistory

Frederick Michael Stokes, together with Alfred Ward Stephens and William McGarvie, formed a partnership to establish a general printing business in Sydney. The three also began publishing the Sydney Herald (later the Sydney Morning Herald). Frederick Michael Stokes and Ward Stephens continued to publish the Herald, as individual proprietors and together, until 1842. Frederick Michael Stokes also published other newspapers and magazines.
