F. C. Hogg came to Sydney from England at the age of twenty-one. He worked initially for the
Sydney Mail and later for the
Daily Telegraph and the
Evening News. Hogg then became editor of the
Wagga Express and was the owner of the
Monaro Mercury from 1899 until its closure in 1931.
