BiographyHistory

Joseph Weston was the first proprietor of the Kiama Independent, and Shoalhaven Advertiser. He was succeeded by his son, also Joseph Weston (d. 1946). Weston was a dairy farmer and the founder of the first co-operative butter factory in Australia. Prior to establishing the Kiama newspaper, he had no previous experience as a printer or a journalist.
