Fay Lee grew up in Hobart reading the greats of '50s sci-fi and watching the classic sci-fi programs of the '60s and '70s. Taking to heart the truism "the best sci-fi writers are engineers", she studied engineering to hone her science understanding, following up with a computer science degree to better grasp the most important technology of the day.
