BiographyHistory

Thomas Talbot Wilton was a well-known journalist in Victoria and New South Wales. He was a founder of the Bendigo Mercury and the Bendigo Independent, and a proprietor of the Bathurst Times (the latter with his brother Edward George Wilton). Wilton was also a successful colliery proprietor in the Lithgow region. On his death, Wilton 'left estate in New South Wales valued at £48,466 and personal property in Victoria valued at £6,275, to his widow and relatives'.
