BiographyHistory

While in Australia working as lawyer for a US oil firm, F. Gayle Wyer was induced by the Fullers to return to his former occupation as a burlesque producer. He subsequently put together his Band Box Revue Company, with the initial line-up featuring Billy Bovis, Sadie Gale and Walter Cornock. Later members included Vera Benson, Charles Norman, Sam J. Ward and Ward Lear Jnr. The troupe toured extensively throughout the Antipodes presenting Wyer's one act musical comedies (revusicals), vaudeville programmes and occasional pantomimes until late 1929 (at which time it was known as the Co-Optimists).
